Austin Community College is here to help you succeed by supporting your mental health! Attending college is fun and exciting, but at times it can be challenging to balance work, school, friends, and extracurricular activities. The Mental Health Counseling team offers services and programs across the district to help you build resilience, find balance, and help maintain safety, health and overall wellness.

Note: New ACC students registered for the Spring 2025 semester can submit a request for services starting on January 2, 2025.

ACC will be closed at 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The college reopens on Monday, December 2. Any requests received after 4:00pm on Tuesday, November 26 will be reviewed starting on Monday, December 2. For emergencies or immediate assistance, call 911.

Mental Health Counseling can help you:

  • Navigate through stress, depression, and anxiety
  • Cope with challenging situations
  • Create healthy habits for a balanced life
  • Develop tools and strategies for when you’re feeling overwhelmed
  • Improve your overall well being

Who Qualifies for Mental Health Counseling?

Any student who is actively enrolled in ACC classes for the current semester (including Continuing Education or Adult Education classes), is physically located in Texas, and is not already receiving therapy from an outside clinician is eligible to receive counseling.

Students under 18 years of age are required by Texas State Law (Texas Family Code Chapter 32.004) to obtain permission from a Parent, Legal Guardian or Managing Conservator to receive counseling services (exceptions apply in accordance with state law). Once you submit a request, the team will provide you with additional information.

Request Presentations, Trainings or Events

If you would like for one of our Mental Health Professionals to attend an event, schedule a workshop, or present please submit your request with ample advance notice. A confirmation of the event request will be emailed separately.
